• Apply best practices for maintaining compliance in areas such as wage and hour regulations, leave policies, and anti-discrimination statutes.
2. Managing Remote and Hybrid Workforces
• Recognize the key legal considerations related to remote and hybrid work, including tax implications, wage and hour issues, and employee privacy concerns.
• Evaluate and enforce remote work policies to ensure consistency and compliance across the workforce.
3. Handling Employee Discipline and Terminations
• Identify common pitfalls in employee discipline and termination and outline steps to avoid wrongful termination claims.
4. Preventing and Addressing Workplace Harassment and Discrimination
• Understand training requirements and best practices for preventing workplace harassment and discrimination.
• Conduct thorough investigations of complaints and respond appropriately to ensure a safe and respectful workplace.
• Promote a culture of respect and inclusivity and recognize the impact of proactive prevention strategies.
5. Workplace Investigations
• Discuss effective and legally sound workplace investigations, including interviewing, gathering evidence, and documenting findings.
• Implement measures to protect against retaliation and maintain confidentiality throughout the investigation process.
• Assess the outcomes of investigations and determine appropriate corrective actions.

Speaker Bio
Marshall is a Board Certified Labor and Employment attorney that focuses his practice on representing employers in litigation involving restrictive covenants (including applications for injunctive relief), Title VII, Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) (single plaintiff and collective action), Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Worker Adjustment Retraining and Notification Act (WARN), Operational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), and Sarbanes Oxley and related retaliation issues. Marshall also provides employers with advice and guidance regarding day-to-day employment issues such as hirings, terminations, mass layoffs, employment agreements, policies, and compliance.

CLM® Application Credit: 1.0 hr. of Organizational Development
CLM® Functional Specialist Credit: 1.0 hr. of Human Resources Management (HR) towards the additional hours required of some Functional Specialists to fulfill the CLM application
CLM® Recertification Credit:  1.0 hr. in the subject area of Human Resources Management (HR)

The session will be available via zoom to any member that does not attend in-person.  The zoom portion of the meeting will begin at 11:55am.

DOWNTOWN LOCATION PARKING:
The building is accessible from the tunnel and parking is available and will be validated for those that park in the 601 Travis garage. There is access to Hunton’s building on the street level or tunnel level via the escalator in the lobby of the garage.

GALLERIA AREA LOCATION PARKING:
Attendees can park in the building's parking garage in any visitor spot that is not specifically reserved for the bank. The conference room is in Suite 120, on the 1st floor of the building.
